Archived Social Work Degree Program Interviews
MasterofSocialWork.com was created in 2019 as a resource for prospective graduate students researching master’s programs in social work. The site includes a comprehensive database of Master of Social Work (MSW) programs accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Students can search for programs by geographic location or by specialization. Additionally, students can explore on-campus, online, and hybrid MSW Programs. The site also provides students with answers to frequently asked questions about various aspects of the social work profession and degree programs in social work and related fields.
To further supplement our comprehensive directory of MSW programs offered by colleges and universities across the U.S., we have been interviewing graduate program directors and professors about their institutions’ master’s programs in social work. It is not uncommon for graduate program directors to change over time and for professors to take new positions at different universities. Therefore, we have archived the following interviews because the program has fundamentally changed since the interview was conducted or because the interviewee is no longer at the university. For programs where we have conducted a more recent interview, a link to that interview will be found at the top of the archived interview.
Dr. Kalea Benner is the Associate Dean for the College of Social Work at the University of Kentucky, where she oversees program and curriculum development, student advising and admissions, faculty hiring, and field practicum partnerships.
Tiffany Garcia is the Director of the Master of Social Work program at Our Lady of the Lake University, where she oversees the MSW’s curriculum development, field practicum program, student advising and admissions, and faculty hiring and support.
Dr. Jill Manit is a Clinical Assistant Professor and the Online Education Coordinator for Sacred Heart University’s School of Social Work, where she oversees student admissions and advising, curriculum development, and field education support.
Suzanne Shatila is the Program Director for the Master of Social Work program at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, where she oversees curriculum development, student advising and admissions, field education, and faculty hiring and support.
Dr. Katherine Van Blair is the Director of the School of Social Work at St. Ambrose University, where she oversees student admissions and advising, curriculum development for the School’s programs, and faculty support and hiring.
